Managing logistics is more than simply moving materials. At Walsh we understand the need for lean logistics, especially in London, maximising the use and efficiency of our fleet.
We understand the complexities of moving materials around London – in fact no-one knows how to do this better than us. Walsh operates one of the largest and newest fleets of tipper trucks for transportation of construction, demolition and excavation waste across London, Kent and Essex. And in addition to our core fleet, we have access to hundreds of approved haulage contractors through the GRS Group network.
Operating in London we have long paid particular attention to the safety of vulnerable road users. That’s why our entire 120-strong truck fleet is accredited with FORS Gold – the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme – and has been since 2014.
FORS Gold operator status demonstrates our commitment to maintain the highest standards of safe and efficient operation for both our vehicles and drivers, who participate in regular training and personal development sessions. In addition, CLOCS Champion (Construction Logistics & Community Safety Scheme) is another accreditation we hold.
Not only ensuring our drivers are trained to operate to the highest standards, we have taken part in numerous initiatives to improve awareness among vulnerable road users of the challenges of operating lorries within busy city environments. And with air quality being such a major concern in cities like London, we were one of the first companies to switch our entire fleet to the latest Euro VI engines, which are now the only type to be approved for Ultra Low Emissions Zones (ULEZ).
By connecting our tipper fleet with our marine fleet – and our partnerships with rail freight operators – we can move large volumes of construction materials and waste spoil in and out of the capital. Contractors and developers can therefore be sure that their logistics are carried out as efficiently and sustainably as possible. As a result, every year we move in excess of 3 million tonnes of material.
